* Firstly please note that I realise you do not currently have recruitment open for a priest, I'm applying without my hopes up *
Character Name: Lixy Class: Priest
1) Show us your character:
Please provide a link to your itemisation, via the WoW Armory. - http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/auchindoun/Lixy/advanced
Explain your choice of gear, gems and enchants and how this benefits you. Gear: My gear isn't ideally itemised, for instance I'm using the healing tier gloves rather than using the shadow gloves and getting the 4set with helm, shoulders, chest and legs. This was to get the 2set bonus and I plan to fix it in time. Also, I took a break during Firelands and when I returned to raiding I was still using many 372 items, so I've been replacing some items asap within reason and in doing so have gathered a few crit items. I have a BiS list and a wish list etc, I know what I need and plan to remedy this. Gems: My gemming is fairly standard - Gemming for socket bonus if the bonus is int, Using artful gems for orange. I haven't had much luck with epic gems - I've had a lot of green ones which I've just given to tanks, any 397+ Items I have a gem to match the socket on I've put an epic gem in, I've not recieved any red epic gems yet however I will probably buy some soon. Enchants: Quite straightforward again, in situations where there is little to no mobility such as Ultraxion and Spine, I will change Lavawalker to the pure mastery enchant to maximise my output, for most fights however its all kept the same really. I'm using the stat prio Int>Spirit>Mastery>Haste>Crit, theorycrafting shows this to be the superior choice when you have a balance between both Holy and Disc in mind, hence not going for haste which would be viable for a Disc priest who will be using a considerable amount of PoH, and hence reforging for spirit as prio as I'm holy quite often.
Explain the reason for your choice of talents, and how they benefit you in 10 man raiding ? My specs are fairly standard, I change my specs when an encounter needs it, for instance I would spec fully into body + soul when the speed buff is needed or take full mental agility in mana intensive situations. strength of soul is controversial over train of thought but inner focus is for mana conservation which I have no problems with at all so that aspect of the talent is quite redundant and I'd rather a reduced weakened soul debuff than a reduced penance cooldown in most situations especially when I'll be using direct heals more than smiting so the uptime of the talent itself will be higher. Also for holy I've used a rapid renewal spec as well as the current spec I have in which im wary of SoR. But renew did quite a small portion of my healing in most situations so I dropped it. Both specs have strengths, some examples being:
Holy Strengths:
- Lightwell: Lightwell is the most efficient mana per output heal in the game, for 6177 mana (less than PW:shield for perspective) it does 21.2k per charge which = 212k in total or 318k glyped. this is assuming all charges are used without being cancelled by damage, it is based on my spellpower, and is not including possible crits. Lightwell receives a 30.8% per tick spellpower coefficient, or 92.4% per charge making it the best scaling healing spell ingame considering the amount of charges.
- Chakra: Provides valuable situationally useful buffs, the 2 healing buffs are: Serenity = Single target, 10% increased critical effect for direct heals, direct heals refresh renew. Gives Holy Word: Serenity, 13-14.3k instant heal (very cheap) + increased crit on target by 25% for 6secs or around 8 seconds with the 4set tier bonus. This is situationally useful but more often than not the more useful buff for a Holy Priest is: Sanctuary = Increased AoE healing (15%), increased renew ticks and reduced CoH cd (2secs). as well as Holy Word: Sanctuary, this spell is rather situational due to its mana cost, but I've found that in mosts DS encounters there are numerous times where most if not all of the raid will be stacking, Having come from a 25 man guild this is more useful than it would be if i were to join a 10man guild. 18sec duration, ticks every 2 secs which = 9k healing to 6 people and diminishing each extra person. Or with the 4set Tier bonus = around 24 secs duration which is 1007 every 2 secs x 12 = 12k per person for 6 then diminishing (3k healing increase per person).
These were just some examples, ofc some other obvious strengths for a holy priest are the reduced divine hymn cd and increased strength, circle of healing and guardian spirit - a life and potentially raid saving spell on a very reasonable cd.
Discipline Strengths:
Rapture: Accounts for a large amount of discipline priests regen and is invaluable to the spec, 7% mana (scaling with mana pool is a big plus) every time a shield is fully absorbed (only once every 12 secs) is a huge amount of mana over the course of an encounter and results in discipline priests having to worry about mana a huge amount less than holy priests.
Archangel + Atonement: Although also very situational (eg theres not really many situations for getting stacks up on spine except on the tendon) this is an extremely useful set of combined talents, the mana refund makes the 15% increased healing buff cost barely any mana and atonement can heal when other things cant for instance people in ice tombs on hagara hc is very useful, as well as Discipline priests being favored for Ultrax heroic to squeeze extra DPS
As with holy, these were just two of several examples, other obvious strengths are powerful shields providing excellent mitigation and buying time for other heals to hit tanks etc without further loss of HP, Power Infusion for performance increase of either myself or other players damage/healing, Pain Suppression for 40% damage reduction on a fairly short cd and divine aegis- usually doing a very high portion of a disco's healing and providing further mitigation and providing a way of "blanketing" a raid with PoH.
What glyphs are you using and why? Holy: Glyph of Prayer of Healing: This is a fairly standard choice, adds 20% of initial heal as a HoT lasting 6 seconds. as PoH is one of a holy priests main heals this glyph is very worthwhile and will do a large amount of extra healing over the course of an encounter, in turn this will also help save mana. Glyph of Renew: I'm not a huge fan of this glyph for 25man raiding and I switch it situationally with Glyph of Guardian Spirit quite often. Glyph of Lightwell: As said lightwell is extremely efficient. Because of this 5 extra charges is a valuable glyph to many situations in my opinion. Of course there are situations where this glyph would be better swapped out for GS rather than renew due to peoples positioning etc, I take this into account and I switch glyphs accordingly.
Discipline: Glyph of Penance: Reduces penances cooldown by 2 seconds, this is a great glyph, in a lot of situations disc priests will be using greater heal lots and penance is awesome to have off cooldown during these times, because of its speed and mana efficiency it is generally a disc priests primary direct heal- so having its cooldown lowered is a great use of a glyph slot. Glyph of PW:Shield: an instant 20% of absorption amount comes in handy and is especially worthwhile if you are stacking mastery like myself. Glyph of Prayer of Healing: This glyph is useful as a discipline priest as well in a lot of encounters, Depending on A. how much I'll be using PoH and B. how much my PW:Barrier will be needed, I switch this with Glyph of PW:Barrier when I see fit. *Please also note that I change my major glyphs situationally also, for example I would keep Glyph of Smite for Ultraxion Heroic, but for Zon'ozz Heroic I switch it to Glyph of Dispel*
What professions did you pick, and why? -All production professions even out with stats (JC would give 1 extra int). On this note I chose the professions in relation to how useful they are to my character and how well they compliment eachother mainly. Enchanting Raiding Perks: Enchant rings x2 = 80int. Utility Perks: Can DE in raids, switch enchants and enchant new items for myself and others during raids. Tailoring Raiding Perks: Int proc cloak enchant (or spirit) Utility Perks: Cheap spellthreads, can create crafted epics.
2) Availability
How does your availability fit our requirements? - I can make all raid days and times. Do you consider yourself flexible? I'd say so yes. I assume you mean within the context of availability. I can stay later if raids are extended without any issues. How active are you online outside raids? I'm very active throughout the week, I'm at university so I have plenty spare time.
3) Your Experience:
What characters have you been raiding with? All Pre-Cata raiding experience was made on my paladin which is my old main: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/chamber-of-aspects/L%C3%ADxxy/advanced I have other 85s that I have raided with also, including a shaman and death knight. What is your previous raiding experience (Vanilla/Outland/Northrend/Cata)? Vanilla/TBC: I played but was fairly casual and no notable raiding was done really. WoTLK: VoA: Clear with Earth, Wind and Fire (10+25) Naxx: Clear (10+25) Ulduar: Clear with 10man Meta achievement. ToGC: Clear with Tribute to Insanity & Mount. ICC: 12/12 Heroic with Meta Achievement (10) and 11/12 Heroic (25) Cataclysm: BwD: 6/6 Heroic BoT: 2/5 Heroic TotFW: 2/2 Heroic Firelands: 5/7 Heroic (I took a break during Firelands due to an unexpected real life obligation) Dragon Soul: 6/8 Heroic What groups have you been a member of? -Side Effects -A friends social guild while I rerolled -Axiom -Solace -Immersion (current) Why did you choose to leave them? Side Effects was my guild throughout WoTLK, they disbanded during LK hc 25 progression and I took this opportunity to reroll to my priest, I joined social guilds with friends in this time, there was an understanding that it was temporary. I then joined Axiom where I remained up until my break during Firelands. When I returned to raiding I joined Solace because I wanted to go alliance, I had reasons for leaving though I do not intend to QQ on a public forum. I'm currently in Immersion who are a world 20's 25man guild. I joined very recently and I realise this reflects badly on my loyalty. I had to make changes IRL to fit around the raiding schedule and just after I joined my University timetable changed and I can no longer meet the attendance requirements of the guild. This was unexpected and I must now find somewhere more fitting.
4) Sell yourself
Why do you wish to join Unity Path? I was looking for an alliance guild with the same progress that I have where the raid days and times suit me. I found this guild and liked the impression I got from the website etc and this lead me to apply. I have no personal reason or attachment however.
Do you know any of the existing Unity Path members? Afraid not.
How will Unity Path benefit from recruiting you? - I'm easy to get along with and social throughout the week. I have a consistent raiding history and I currently have more Dragon Soul progress. I know my class and I am well versed in other classes and how they effect me, vice versa. I come prepared with all tactic knowledge, consumables, a good attitude etc and I will put forward ideas when I feel my input is necessary, in this situation I can communicate effectively. I have no objections to sitting out or being rotated, I can take criticism and have no problems with authority. Because of this I think I'd be a positive addition to your roster and that you would benefit from gaining a reliable healer already around the same level as you. From experience of recruiting in previous guilds it is not very often people with the same progression apply. Also I'm an Immunology student close to finishing my degree, so free smuggled morphine for everyone \o/
Have you played any other MMO's? I play lots of games in general but WoW is one of the few MMO's specifically that interest me.
5) Extra information
How is your connection/PC? 10mb connection, usually under 50ms, 8gb ram, GTX graphics card etc, can stay over 40fps in 25mans.
What raid addons do you use ? Please provide a screenshot of your UI during a raid http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/j435/meganlewis13/00lixieui.jpg
My binds are not showing because I use a naga, I can list these if you like, just let me know. I use Healbot (no preference over grid I've used both), oRA3 for raid cooldown tracking, Power Auras and MSBT for procs etc, DBM/BigWigs depending on whats up to date, Omen etc. As you can see I use lots of AddOns that are not crucial for raiding also - My pc can handle running them all fine.
Please provide a link to WoL/similar showing your peformance? This log is 25man, overall healing done is not accurate as healers including myself were switched in and out for some fights. http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/rt-hswcpsyvd7v1bsit/sum/healingDone/?s=2235&e=2712
Also here is a 10 man log from just before I joined my current guild: http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/xugvi79jnlduga92/sum/healingDone/?enc=kills
How do you keep up with the latest class/spec changes?
-For theorycrafting I use Rawr and AskMrRobot, as well as doing lots of the maths myself. I use priest specific forums for feedback on boss mechanics in relation to me etc such as H2P.
Using WoL parses is also useful in determining the effectiveness of my performance or of a choice. I use this often. An example being a log where my T12 2set had less uptime than usual which showed I wasn't using PoM off cooldown, I was more aware of this in future.
